The tour starts in Reykjavik, and first, we drive through a tunnel under the Hvalfjordur (Whale Fjord). This beautiful fjord’s name came from the many whales found and caught here. The innermost part of the fjord is an impressive mixture of volcanic mountains and green vegetation in summer.

Then, we will visit the small village of Reykholt, where we will see an old geothermal bath built by one of the most prominent scientists of the Viking era, Snorri Sturluson, who lived in the 13th century.

Next, we will visit the picturesque Hraunfossar waterfall. Hraunfossar is a series of waterfalls formed by creeks flowing from the Halmundarhraun lava, a field created by volcanic eruptions near the Langjokull Glacier.

We can also join the Into the Glacier group tour to the Lagjokull glacier or The Cave in Vingelmir cave, organized by local operators.

After visiting Krauma SPA, we returned to Reykjavik. From there, we will continue our journey to the Deildartunguhver Hot Springs, where you can dine and soak up the beautiful Krauma Spa (entrance ticket not included). The hot water used at Krauma Spa comes from Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring with a temperature of 100 ° C (212 ° F). Hot water mixes with glacier water to create the ideal bathing temperature.
